ABOUT US
Located in San Tan Valley, Saddle Sore LLC [formerly Saddle Sore Ranch] is a family owned equine facility operated by Mindy Shreeve beginning in 2013. Services provided include therapeutic riding, horseback riding lessons as well as equine boarding, conditioning, and equine transport to surrounding states. As owner and director, Mindy holds a Bachelors in Therapeutic Recreation through the Parks and Recreation Management Program at Arizona State University and has been a PATH International Therapeutic Riding Instructor since 2012. In the summer of 2019 the facility became Saddle Sore LLC.

Therapeutic riding is the core of the programming at Saddle Sore and its goals include working positively towards promoting the cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of all individuals.

At Saddle Sore LLC, our mission is to create a safe, enjoyable, and dynamic environment where individuals can embark on a transformative journey to master the fundamental principles of interacting with horses. We are dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of horsemanship, ensuring that our participants not only learn essential skills but also forge meaningful connections with these majestic animals. Through a commitment to safety, fun, and excitement, we strive to instill a lifelong passion for equestrian pursuits while promoting a sense of responsibility and respect for our equine companions.

THERAPEUTIC RIDING

PATH International Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor
Therapeutic Riding is an equine-assisted therapy activity. The goal of Therapeutic Riding is to work positively to promote the cognitive, physical, emotional and social well-being of children and adults with special needs.

RIDING LESSONS
30 minutes and up : $45-$90
We believe that the bond between horse & rider is essential for success. Riders will learn proper tacking/ grooming, horsemanship, mounting/ dismounting, balance/ control, stopping, steering and more as a part of gaining knowledge about horses as they learn how to become skilled riders as they participate in both mounted and unmounted activities.

Location: Apache Junction
Our second home since 2022 - Saddle Sore at Circle C in Apache Junction. Typical Beginner-Intermediate Riding Lessons are offered at this location and are ESA compatible, space is limited.
PARTNERSHIP WITH PINAL COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE
Location: San Tan Valley
In collaboration with the Pinal County Sheriff's Department, we proudly offer an equine-assisted learning program specifically tailored for at-risk youth. These transformative experiences provide a unique avenue for personal development, combining the therapeutic benefits of interacting with horses with valuable life skills. Through our mounted Horsemanship lessons, unmounted HorseSense curriculum, and specialized equine-assisted learning sessions, participants not only gain proficiency in horsemanship but also build resilience, confidence, and a sense of responsibility.
Together with the Sheriff's Department, we are dedicated to fostering positive connections between the youth and the community. Our programs provide a safe and supportive environment where participants can learn, grow, and develop essential life skills. Join us as we harness the power of horses to create lasting impact and inspire positive change in the lives of at-risk youth in Pinal County.

OUR HERD
ODIE
Odie is the founding member of our herd. She began as a working cow horse, then transitioned to lessons with kids for Therapeutic Riding in 2005. Odie is sweet, loving, caring and very motherly to her riders. She retired lesson work at Saddle Sore at the end of 2017, but continues to supervise and keep our herd successful. Odie is the loving and constant reminder of what we strive to achieve and why.

SHORTY
Shorty was trained in cutting cattle and western riding, but he enjoys a long winding trail ride the best. Funny, playful and loving - Shorty is easy to ride and loves working with kids of all ages.

FANCY AKA FANCY FACE
Fancy is experienced in trail riding and working a parade with style. She joined the program at Saddle Sore Ranch as a therapy horse in 2018. Fancy always carries her riders with confidence and beauty.

POWDER
Powder is named for her coloring a classic dusty, powdered look. She aims to please and does her best with each and every rider she carries. Powder enjoys lazy days, a good roll in the dust or mud when she can get it.

TRIXY
Trixy is energetic, outgoing and outspoken but lovable all the same. She is smart, reflective of the rider she carries and adaptable. Trixy loves to play in her water trough, with the hose and many a volunteer has received a soaking from this big loving girl.

BO JANGLES
One of the younger members of our herd, this svelte young man is learning the ropes of working with clients at Saddle Sore Ranch. He loves a good, lengthy grooming session and run around the arena. Bo keeps our riders on their toes and smiling.
